Marico has approved the appointment of former Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) Managing Director and CEO Rohit Jawa as an Additional Director in the capacity of Independent Director for a five-year term, effective January 1, 2027. The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors at its meeting on November 2, 2026, and is subject to shareholder approval.
Jawa brings over 38 years of corporate and leadership experience across consumer businesses in India and international markets. His expertise spans emerging markets, international growth, brand building, business transformation, digitalisation, premiumisation and organisational leadership.
At HUL, Jawa was appointed Whole-time Director and President, Unilever South Asia, before taking over as Managing Director and CEO in June 2023. He also served as President, Unilever South Asia and was a member of the Unilever Leadership Executive.
Before returning to India, Jawa served as Chief of Transformation at Unilever in London. His earlier leadership positions included Executive Vice President and Chairman of Unilever China, where he led the North Asia business, and Chairman and CEO of Unilever Philippines.
Alongside his corporate roles, Jawa has held several industry and institutional positions. In India, he served as an Executive Member of the CII National Council and the FICCI Executive Council, as well as an Executive Committee Member of Vikaasa – the UN SDG Accelerator in India.
His other industry engagements include serving as Founding Secretary of Food Industry Asia in Singapore, Co-Chair of Grow Asia Philippines and a member of the Consumer Goods Forum China Board.
