Catalyst Management Services (CMS) has appointed Dr Amit Gupta as its Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Gupta brings over 37 years of experience across the corporate sector, academia, social entrepreneurship and development.

Gupta began his career at Amul before moving to ITC. Both organisations have shaped his experience of connecting business growth with societal value creation. He later spent two decades in business school leadership, teaching and researching social entrepreneurship and management.

His professional journey spans corporate leadership, academic work and development initiatives. This cross-sector experience brings together perspectives on business priorities, institutional capabilities and grassroots realities.

At CMS, Gupta will focus on strengthening the organisation’s role in shaping systems, policies and capital flows that support sustainable development. His priorities include expanding business networks, building long-term partnerships and connecting strategic consulting with frontline insights, technology and innovative finance.

CMS works across public health, agriculture and food systems, livelihoods, climate and sustainability, worker wellbeing and environmental, social and governance (ESG) advisory. The organisation combines consulting, research, technical expertise and implementation experience to address development challenges.

CMS co-founders and Board Directors Shiv Kumar and Raghunathan N. will continue to provide strategic guidance as the organisation develops its advisory capabilities, partnerships and solutions. Gupta’s appointment comes as CMS looks to build on its existing expertise and strengthen its approach to sustainable social impact.
