Zee Entertainment Enterprises is bringing India’s professional golf circuit into its expanding sports offering, securing exclusive broadcast and digital rights to the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI). The agreement gives the broadcaster access to 20 tournaments over the next 12 months, creating a season-long presence for the sport across its platforms.
The deal places domestic golf alongside some of the established international properties in Zee’s sports portfolio. Its existing line-up includes the FIFA Men’s World Cup 2026, Bundesliga, Serie A and IL T20. The addition of PGTI introduces a dedicated Indian professional circuit to this mix, with coverage planned across Unite8 Sports and ZEE5.
The tournament schedule will offer up to 120 hours of live coverage, supplemented by dedicated programming around individual events. This gives the broadcaster scope to present more than match-day action, while bringing audiences closer to the players and the wider professional circuit.
That circuit includes several golfers with notable achievements in Indian golf. Yuvraj Singh Sandhu enters the partnership as the 2025 PGTI Order of Merit champion, following Veer Ahlawat, who won the 2024 title. The tour also features Shaurya Bhattacharya, a former India No. 1 amateur, and multiple-time PGTI winner Angad Cheema. PGTI is led by former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev.
The partnership is being positioned as an opportunity to increase the sport’s visibility. Bavesh Janavlekar, chief business officer, Unite8 Sports, ZEE, said the association aims to bring Indian golf and the stories of its players to a wider audience across platforms.
Kapil Dev, president, DP World PGTI, sees the arrangement as a way to introduce professional golf to new viewers through live coverage and curated content on ZEE5 and Unite8 Sports.
For Zee, the acquisition also reflects a broader approach to sports rights. The company has said it will assess properties according to their long-term strategic value and their contribution to its entertainment offering, rather than treating individual acquisitions as standalone additions.
With 20 events secured for the coming year, PGTI gives Zee a sustained presence in Indian golf and adds another discipline to its multi-sport broadcasting strategy.
The deal gives Indian professional golf an opportunity to reach viewers through a larger television and streaming network. For Zee, it also adds a domestic sporting property that can build continuity across a season, rather than relying solely on the appeal of individual marquee events.
