Guess Jeans is entering Shoppers Stop’s physical retail network in India, giving the American denim label access to a national department store platform as it looks to connect with a younger generation of fashion consumers.
The brand has launched across seven Shoppers Stop locations, including Inorbit Mall Malad, Thane Lakeshore Mall, Phoenix Mall of the Millennium Wakad, Nexus One Mall Ahmedabad, Inorbit Mall Cyberabad, City Centre Mall Patna and Twin District Centre Rohini.
Under the arrangement, Shoppers Stop will serve as Guess Jeans’ exclusive national chain store partner in the country. The exclusivity applies to physical retail, with the brand continuing to be available through e-commerce platforms. Customers will be able to explore its collections in-store, try different fits and experience the denim range firsthand.
The partnership brings together Guess Jeans’ denim-focused positioning and Shoppers Stop’s established department store network. For the retailer, the addition strengthens its international fashion and casualwear assortment as part of its broader premiumisation strategy.
Kavindra Mishra, Customer Care Associate, Managing Director & CEO, Shoppers Stop, said, “At Shoppers Stop, our focus has always been on bringing globally recognised brands closer to discerning Indian consumers through a curated retail experience. Our partnership with Guess Jeans strengthens this proposition by giving customers the opportunity to discover the brand across our department store network. As the exclusive department store partner for Guess Jeans in India, we are pleased to bring its distinctive denim and contemporary fashion offering to our customers. This partnership further strengthens our international brand portfolio while creating a differentiated experience for customers across our stores.”
For Guess, the association is part of its effort to expand its presence in the Indian market through a combination of physical retail and digital distribution. Ajay Kumar, Country Manager, GUESS India, said “The launch of GUESS JEANS in India is an important milestone in our journey to connect with a new generation of consumers. Our collaboration with Shoppers Stop is key to this ambition, bringing together a strong physical retail presence and digital reach. Through these partnerships, we aim to make GUESS JEANS’ distinctive denim heritage and contemporary, youth-focused style more accessible to Indian consumers, wherever they choose to shop.”
Conceived by Nicolai Marciano, Guess Jeans is the youth-oriented sub-brand within the GUESS portfolio, targeting Gen Z consumers. Its collections draw on street culture, individuality and self-expression, with contemporary silhouettes and everyday denim essentials. The label also positions itself around an American West Coast lifestyle and a 40-year denim legacy, with sustainability and innovation forming part of its stated approach.
Shoppers Stop currently operates 118 department stores, 11 premium home concept stores, 72 specialty beauty stores, 85 Intune stores and three airport doors across 4.5 million sq. ft. Its omnichannel network spans more than 800 brands. The retailer’s premium offering also includes more than 500 premium brands, Personal Shopper services and First Citizen Club loyalty privileges.
The company plans to build on the partnership through an omnichannel approach, with future collections, collaborations and retail experiences intended to strengthen Guess Jeans’ connection with Indian consumers.
The partnership gives Guess Jeans a physical retail foothold through an established department store network while allowing Shoppers Stop to add another international denim label to its premium portfolio. The distinction between exclusive in-store distribution and continued e-commerce availability also makes this a retail partnership rather than an exclusive sales arrangement across all channels.
