Spotify has brought the familiar chaos of Diwali preparations into its latest festive campaign, featuring the Mishra family from TVF’s Gullak. Built around the tagline ‘Diwali ki taiyaari fun banao, Spotify chalao’, the campaign uses everyday household tasks to demonstrate how music can turn routine festive chores into moments of family entertainment.
The campaign comprises three films, each centred on a familiar Diwali activity. From preparing laddoos and creating rangolis to untangling decorative lights, the films capture the small challenges that come with getting a household ready for the festival.
Music becomes the turning point in each story. In one film, the family prepares laddoos to ‘Taambdi Chaamdi’, while another features ‘Chaiya Chaiya’ playing as they make a rangoli. The third brings ‘Badan Pe Sitare’ into the process of untangling Diwali lights. As the Mishras bicker through their tasks, someone eventually puts on Spotify, transforming the atmosphere and bringing everyone into the moment.
The films are available on Spotify’s Instagram and YouTube channels. The campaign also builds on the platform’s earlier ‘Roz ke Kaam Fun Banao, Spotify Chalao’ communication, extending the central idea of making everyday activities more enjoyable through music to the festive season.
Spotify has also shared listening trends that highlight the role of audio during celebrations. According to the platform, party playlist streams increase by 34% during the festive season, while devotional listening rises by 13%. Listening through shared devices and spaces, including televisions, cars and speakers, also records a 13% increase over the August baseline, reaching 5.24 million weekly content hours.
From a marketing perspective, Spotify is connecting its everyday utility with a culturally relevant seasonal behaviour. Rather than presenting music only as entertainment for parties and celebrations, the campaign places it within the preparation itself. The use of Gullak‘s Mishra family adds familiarity to the storytelling, while recognisable songs help demonstrate how music can become part of shared household experiences. This allows Spotify to reinforce its place in everyday routines while giving its festive communication a relatable family setting.
