Rajinikanth’s return as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian is heading to streaming, with Prime Video securing the exclusive global premiere of Jailer 2. The action crime drama will arrive on the platform on November 12, following its theatrical release.

The sequel will be available to subscribers in more than 240 countries and territories, with streaming options in five languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and Kannada. The release also brings both instalments of the franchise together on the platform, allowing viewers to revisit the original story before watching the sequel.

Directed by Nelson Dilipkumar and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner, Jailer 2 continues the story of the retired jailer. This time, Muthuvel Pandian is pulled back into action when a powerful criminal syndicate threatens his family. With political and international connections complicating the conflict, he must confront returning enemies and navigate unexpected alliances.

The film expands its ensemble with appearances by Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan and Vijay Sethupathi. The cast also includes SJ Suryah, Shivarajkumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty, Vidhya Balan, Ramyakrishnan, Namo Narayana and Yogi Babu.

For Nelson, the sequel builds on the audience response to the first film while taking its narrative and production scale further. Speaking about the follow-up, the director said, “The response to Jailer was extraordinary, and the love audiences have shown for Muthuvel Pandian has been one of the most rewarding aspects of this journey,” Nelson said. “With Jailer 2, we wanted to build on that special connection while taking the story, action, scale, and emotional stakes to an entirely new level.”

He also acknowledged Rajinikanth’s return to the character, the ensemble cast and composer Anirudh Ravichander’s contribution to the film’s identity. Nelson said the streaming release would allow the sequel to reach audiences across India and international markets.

With its multilingual release and availability across more than 240 territories, Prime Video is extending the film’s reach beyond its theatrical audience. The November 12 premiere will also give subscribers access to the next chapter of the Muthuvel Pandian story alongside the original Jailer.

The global streaming release positions Jailer 2 as more than a regional-language film launch, bringing a major Indian franchise to a wide international subscriber base. Making both instalments available on the same platform also gives audiences an opportunity to follow the franchise as a complete story.
