S&N by Shantnu Nikhil is taking its design identity beyond clothing, entering the eyewear category through a 32-piece collaboration with John Jacobs. The collection, titled ‘The Shape of India’, marks the couturiers’ first venture into eyewear and brings together the label’s Indian design vocabulary with John Jacobs’ Italian design sensibilities.
Rather than treating eyewear as an extension of seasonal fashion, the collaboration draws inspiration from Indian leaders whose glasses became associated with conviction, intellect and authority. Their distinctive frames serve as the starting point for a contemporary range that revisits familiar shapes for a new generation.
The collection features eyeglasses and sunglasses across wayfarer, aviator, round and bold square silhouettes. Its design language is carried through considered details, including the S&N mark along the frame’s curve, metal streaks across the temples and navy blue and cherry-red tape accents integrated into the folding hinges.
Designed to work across everyday dressing and occasion-led wardrobes, the range also extends to festive and wedding styling. Its launch during the middle of the festive season positions the collection for consumers looking to incorporate statement accessories into celebratory looks.
For Shantnu and Nikhil, the move into eyewear offers an opportunity to translate their approach to classic shapes, strong silhouettes and timelessness into a different category. They also describe the collaboration as an exploration of “a certain softness in masculinity” and individual expression.
Abhimanyu Mishra, AVP, John Jacobs, said the partnership brings together two distinct design perspectives through classic silhouettes, material choices and signature detailing. The collection is available on Lenskart’s website and across its retail outlets.
John Jacobs focuses on quality, material innovation and design experimentation. S&N by Shantnu Nikhil, the Prestige-Prêt extension of Maison Shantnu Nikhil, has a presence across 10 cities and is positioned in the bridge-to-luxury segment.
The collaboration gives S&N by Shantnu Nikhil an opportunity to extend its design identity into a category where form and personal expression are central. Its use of recognisable Indian eyewear references also gives the collection a cultural starting point beyond conventional fashion-led styling.
