Nike will introduce the Vegam Run in India on November 1, marking the launch of its first running shoe designed specifically for the country. Priced at ₹3,795, the shoe is intended for both running and everyday movement, with insights from runners across India informing its development.

The Vegam Run features an engineered mesh upper, Full-Length Foam cushioning and a textured rubber outsole. Perimeter rubber is designed to enhance durability, while pull tabs make the shoe easier to put on. Nike has focused on combining cushioning, breathability, comfort and versatility in a product positioned as an entry point for people looking to take up running.

Local influences also feature in the shoe’s design. Its India-inspired colourways include an After Dark Tour edition associated with the Mumbai stop scheduled for December, connecting the product with the country’s running culture.

“Our ambition with the Vegam Run was simple: honor the voice of the runner in India and build what they need,” said Deepa Ramprasad, sr. director of Nike Road Running Footwear. “The result is a shoe that brings Nike Running, cushioning, comfort and versatility to more athletes while reflecting our long-term commitment to growing sport in India.”

Nike says the product moved from design brief to confirmed product in 55 days, with the journey from concept to launch taking roughly five months. Its product, marketplace and manufacturing teams collaborated on the development.

Tarundeep Singh, general manager, Nike India, said: “There’s an incredible energy around running in India today, with a new generation embracing movement in ways that are deeply personal, expressive and community-driven,” said Tarundeep Singh, general manager, Nike India. “Vegam Run is an invitation to running for more athletes in India and around the world. This new innovation represents our commitment to serving a broader spectrum of athletes, from those taking their first steps into sport to lifelong runners.”

The shoe will be available in India from November 1 through Flipkart and select retail locations. Nike plans to extend distribution through its retail partners in India in spring 2027, with additional international markets also expected to receive the product that year.

The Vegam Run brings together product development informed by Indian runners, an accessible price point and design elements inspired by the local market. By positioning the shoe for both running and everyday use, Nike is addressing a broad range of movement needs rather than focusing exclusively on experienced athletes. Its reception will show how well this India-specific approach connects with consumers across different stages of their running journey.
