PepsiCo India has moved more than 70% of its beverage portfolio to zero-sugar or mid-calorie formulations, up from 55–60% in April 2026, as the company advances towards its long-term target of covering 90–100% of its liquid refreshment lineup.

Announced by Jagrut Kotecha, CEO of PepsiCo India and South Asia, the shift is being driven by product reformulations and wider distribution of offerings such as Pepsi Black, 7UP Zero Sugar, Gatorade Zero and Nimbooz. The company’s stated ambition is to make low- and zero-sugar formulations the standard across its Indian beverage portfolio.

The move extends beyond beverages. PepsiCo India said its entire convenient-foods portfolio, including Lay’s, Kurkure, Doritos, Cheetos, Uncle Chipps, Quaker and Red Rock Deli, is now made without artificial flavours or synthetic colours.

The company is also expanding its Better-for-You range with products that emphasise alternative ingredients and modified formulations. These include Kurkure Jowar Puffs, baked Red Rock Deli chips containing 40% less fat and a refreshed Quaker oats range that highlights protein, fibre and whole-grain content.

Yashika Singh, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Sustainability Head at PepsiCo India and South Asia, said providing healthier options remains central to the company’s long-term growth and product innovation.

The India push aligns with PepsiCo’s global sustainability targets. The company reported that 68% of its worldwide beverage volume met its reduced-sugar benchmarks in 2025.

With more than 70% of its Indian beverage portfolio now in zero-sugar or mid-calorie formulations, PepsiCo is moving towards a broader portfolio shift that combines product reformulation with the expansion of alternatives across its food and beverage businesses.
