Warner Bros. Discovery will stop new subscriptions from September 3, while existing subscribers will retain access based on their current billing cycles.
Warner Bros. Discovery is set to discontinue the standalone discovery+ app in India on November 3, 2026, marking an end to the platform’s direct subscription offering in the market.
The company has already stopped accepting new subscriptions through the discovery+ platform and third-party providers from September 3.
For existing monthly subscribers, subscriptions will no longer auto-renew from October 3. Users will continue to have access until the end of their ongoing billing cycle.
Annual subscribers whose billing periods end between October 3 and November 3 will similarly not be renewed and can continue using the service until their existing subscription expires. Subscribers whose annual plans extend beyond November 3 will receive a pro-rated refund for the unused portion of their subscription.
While the standalone app is being discontinued, discovery+ content will continue to be available in India through a number of partner platforms. These include Amazon Prime Video Channels, Jio TV+, Jio TV, Tata Play Binge, Dish TV VZY and Playbox TV.
The move effectively shifts discovery+’s content distribution towards partner platforms rather than maintaining a standalone direct-to-consumer app in India.
